Regulation by FLOWERING LOCUS T and TERMINAL FLOWER 1 in Flowering Time and Plant Architecture

چکیده

The conversion from vegetative to inflorescence shoot apical meristem is one of the key developmental switches in flowering plants. This transition modulated by various environmental and endogenous stimuli controlled sophisticated regulatory networks. Regulation time architecture has a great impact on plant reproductive success significantly influences biomass fitness. FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT), mobile protein identified as major component florigen, promotes flowering, whereas its homologous TERMINAL FLOWER 1 (TFL1) functions oppositely. Studies species reveal that FT TFL1 play universal multifaceted roles wide range processes Hence, modulations FT/TFL1 their pathways have considerable development crop domestication. Herein, an overview molecular basis underlying regulation expression modulation trafficking relevant mechanisms control provided. Whenever applicable, functional conservation divergence are also discussed.

The FLOWERING LOCUS T/TERMINAL FLOWER 1 family in Lombardy poplar.

Genes in the FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT) and TERMINAL FLOWER 1 (TFL1) family have been shown to be important in the control of the switch between vegetative and reproductive growth in several plant species. We isolated nine members of the FT/TFL1 family from Lombardy poplar (Populus nigra var. italica Koehne). Sequence analysis of the members of the FT/TFL1 family revealed considerable homology with...

Dissecting cis-regulation of FLOWERING LOCUS T.

Flowering in many plants is strongly influenced by daylength. Arabidopsis thaliana FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT) encodes a small peptide that is now widely recognized as a major component of florigen, a systemic signal that induces flowering in response to daylength (Turck et al., 2008). FT is expressed in phloem companion cells, and the protein is translocated through the phloem to the shoot apical m...

Natural Variation of the RICE FLOWERING LOCUS T 1 Contributes to Flowering Time Divergence in Rice

In rice (Oryza sativa L.), there is a diversity in flowering time that is strictly genetically regulated. Some indica cultivars show extremely late flowering under long-day conditions, but little is known about the gene(s) involved. Here, we demonstrate that functional defects in the florigen gene RFT1 are the main cause of late flowering in an indica cultivar, Nona Bokra. Mapping and complemen...

EARLY FLOWERING3 Regulates Flowering in Spring Barley by Mediating Gibberellin Production and FLOWERING LOCUS T Expression.

EARLY FLOWERING3 (ELF3) is a circadian clock gene that contributes to photoperiod-dependent flowering in plants, with loss-of-function mutants in barley (Hordeum vulgare), legumes, and Arabidopsis thaliana flowering early under noninductive short-day (SD) photoperiods. The barley elf3 mutant displays increased expression of FLOWERING LOCUS T1 (FT1); however, it remains unclear whether this is t...

Regulation of flowering in the long-day grass Lolium temulentum by gibberellins and the FLOWERING LOCUS T gene.

Seasonal control of flowering often involves leaf sensing of daylength coupled to time measurement and generation and transport of florigenic signals to the shoot apex. We show that transmitted signals in the grass Lolium temulentum may include gibberellins (GAs) and the FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT) gene. Within 2 h of starting a florally inductive long day (LD), expression of a 20-oxidase GA biosynt...
